Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass revealed

Fortnite Season 5 has arrived and that means a whole host of new cosmetics are coming with it in the new Battle Pass. While Season 4’s pass focused on Superheroes, it looks like this time around things are getting a little more historical, especially with viking skins on the way, which fits the time travel theme that fans had been speculating about for weeks.

Just like last year, this new Battle Pass has 100 tiers worth of cosmetic rewards which can each be unlocked by earning battle stars — which you can get from completing challenges and earning experience.

The Season 5 Battle Pass will be available for purchase in Fortnite’s in-game store for the entirety of the season and will cost 950 V-Bucks ($9.50). For the players who don’t want to spend money on the Battle Pass, rest assured, Epic is still giving everyone who logs in during the season a free version of the pass with a few more limited unlocks. For the first time in Fortnite, Season 5’s free pass will also open up the first three challenges of every week to free players as well.

While unlocking each Battle Pass tier individually is the normal practice, for those less patient players, Epic is also offering a way to unlock every reward from the Battle Pass early if you ware willing to pay a little extra. A second version of the Battle Pass is available that starts with the first 25 levels unlocked — for 2,800 V-Bucks — and each upgrade tier can be purchased on its own for just 150 V-Bucks.

Just like last season’s pass there will be progressive challenges, which unlock new pieces of armor for some of the Battle Pass skins. However, unlike last season, these challenges will not be tied to the season and can be completed at any time, allowing players a little more than the season’s three month window to grind out the levels needed for the highest unlocks.

The Season 5 Battle Pass will with Season 5 on July 12 and will run through September 25, the entire duration of Season 5.
